This week, my kids made pumpkins using sticker sheets from Oriental Trading. Before we write, we always talk about our question words and what I expect when they write. How do you get your students started?

When I taught writing I almost always used mentor text or a mini lesson prior to the writing time. This was with third graders. Now, I just teach Science! Carol Teachers Are Terrific!
