Super Saturday

Now that the Elf on the Shelf adventures are over, I'm wondering what I am going to blog about for all of my followers.  It's too bad we can't come up with a few more fictional, creepy cute characters.  For January we could do Snowman on the Pan.  Yeah, I know... it doesn't have quite the ring to it that Elf on the Shelf has.  I'm sure eventually someone will come up with some sort of after Christmas year around elf and will become a billionaire, but honestly as much as I will miss the fun, it will be nice to be able to leave without spending thirty minutes of plotting and planning for an elf each day.  Some days it was like when you need gas and need to be somewhere.  It never failed that I would need to leave and remember the elf.  Obviously, I was late to several dinners, Bible studies, etc. because I couldn't risk the stomach flu or a cold hitting the one morning I didn't move the little guy.

Okay, enough about my elf.  Yesterday was my first day of Christmas break.  My husband and I had HUGE plans.  We were going to get up early, go to breakfast, shopping, and have a fun day together.  We couldn't wait for Friday morning.  Have to tell you though, I did nothing.  I didn't get the laptop out of it's bag, I didn't blog, I didn't work - I did nothing.  Well, I did do three things (Outside of eating and bathroom breaks).  I played games on my iPad, watched lots of recorded Christmas movies, and took 3 naps.  Yes, I really said 3 naps!  My T.A. gave me this super soft blanket from T.J. Maxx and I think she injected it with a sleeping potion.  Every time I curled up under it, I was out within 20 minutes.  I think I'm going to end up getting my hubby one for Christmas because he has now discovered it's awesomeness and I don't want to share it.

Today was slightly more productive.  It started off slowly, but we did end up getting lunch and running one errand to finish up a few last minute Christmas things.  Tonight we had Christmas at my Mimi and Granddaddy's house.  I grew up in Columbus, GA and one of our favorite things to eat was Dinglewood's Scrambled Dogs.  A scrambled dog is a hot dog with chili, mustard, ketchup, oyster crackers, and pickles.  I typically eat one thing at a time and I don't like my food to touch, but this is the one time I will mix foods and love every bite.  After that, we opened gifts and watched the kids play with everything.  I have four nieces and nephews, but I have to say out of all of them, I LOVE picking on my Gracie.  She is JUST like my sister and it's so easy to get under her skin.  She's your typical silly second grader who gets so excited over every gift you give her that you never know which one she loves the most.  Oh, before I forget, here's a picture of one of the gifts I gave tonight.  I have one niece in eighth grade, so she's kind of hit the age where she wants very specific things.
I saw an item on Pinterest where you take bills, roll them up, and put them in a bag with a cute little label stapled on at the top.  Well, I left my stapler at school, so I had to think quickly. One of my students gave me this cute, little Christmas tree, so I decided it would work perfectly.  I took different bills and tied them up with ribbon.  I took scissors and cut up extra ribbon and then scraped the ribbon with scissors to make it curl.  I put all of the ribbon and bills into the Christmas tree and placed it in a cute Christmas bag.  She loved it and it took away any guilt I felt for just giving money.

Now, I know it isn't quite January, but I'm assuming at this point we are all out until then.  Here's pictures of my January Book Reports.  If you like it, CLICK HERE to get it.  Hopefully, I'm going to have a few new things on TPT during the next few weeks and a few freebies, so keep following.

Have a super Sunday tomorrow!

    1. Thank you :) We quit doing Accelerated Reader this year, so our first graders fill these out instead :) They've done great with them! I run off a HUGE stack at the beginning of the month.
