Celebrities and Walmart

I have discovered tonight that I am in a family full of celebrities.  Several months ago, my sister was in a local dentistry commercial.  Well, last night my mom was on a new show called "Big Food".  It was a pretty awesome episode and it aired on CMT, so check it out.  I was told to watch the show because it stars some of our friends, but I had no clue that my mom was on it.  So, now that my sister and mom are celebrities, I feel that I need to join the business, except I want to be on the Internet.  I have decided that I'm going to put on the craziest outfit I can find, spray paint my hair and put wire in it like Pippi Longstocking, and try to get on www.peopleofwalmart.com.  Oh, by the way, just kidding!!!!  If you know me, you know there is no possibility that I could ever do something that crazy!  I am perfectly fine with keeping my celebrity status in the past.  Modeling in restaurants at 5 was enough for me.

Now, speaking of Walmart, my hubby and I decided to brave the cold tonight (I miss my 60 degrees from this morning) and go find a few items.  Within 20 seconds of walking in the store, we spotted this.  Now, if you've been reading my blog, I truly LOVE pumpkin, but seriously?  This is taking it a step too far for me.  If you buy this item, I'm sorry, but I don't get it?  Some foods just shouldn't exist.  For example, chocolate spaghetti, lemon pepper ice cream, and roast beef and marshmallow sandwiches.  So, why in the world should pumpkin flavored Pringles exist?  Gag!!!!

Okay, so now that I've explained my first twenty seconds, I should probably get to why we went to Walmart.  Today I started a new game in my classroom called "Table Battles".  My kiddos have been trapped indoors for days now thanks to rain.  Every day they have become louder and louder until finally yesterday I swear I was at a Monster Truck rally.  Honestly, the roar there may be two decimals lower.  I moved desks around four times in two days, but to no avail.  We (Including me) need some fresh air!  Then, it hit me - "Table Battles".

My room has three groups - red, blue, and yellow.  I wrote red, blue, and yellow at the top of a dry erase board and started keeping points.  The kids were told that the winning table would get a prize and the losing table would have to clean the room and write spelling words 3 extra times the next morning.  Of course, they immediately asked about ties and I explained there wouldn't be a tie.  If there was a tie, no one would win.  The rules were if you talk without raising your hand, get out of your seat, or make a bad choice, then the other two tables earn a point.  If someone is caught doing something good, you earn your table a point.  Within the first five minutes, they had the game down pat.  I have to say, it was fun, and it went from a Monster Truck rally to a museum.  We still did fun stuff, but it was easier because everyone was trying to be quiet :)  So, at the end of the day I let the winning table choose special snacks for tomorrow which meant a trip to Walmart.  I just had to go get them Flavor-Blasted Goldfish and Valentine cakes.

I also had to get a few items for Fun Friday.  I had decided that I really wanted to make slime.  Well, that was a great idea - two ingredients - clear glue and liquid starch.  It was a great idea except have you ever looked for liquid starch?  I hadn't, but I thought it couldn't be that hard to find, so I googled it.  Now, for the unbelievable part - Walmart didn't have any.  Well, I had it in my head that we were going to make slime or something gross tomorrow, so I googled "How to Make Slime" and that's when I discovered Borax.  I have no idea if it will work, but if it does it will be a blast!  I also decided that I wanted to see what it would look like if I used glitter-colored glue.  You can go to About.com to see how they made their slime.  Stay tuned for an update on mine tomorrow.  As you know, I'm bad about measuring, so I may manage to create a whole new substance.

Have a great night and see you tomorrow!

    1. Glad I make you laugh :) That's one of my goals... I figure after long days, we all need a good laugh and a little excitement :) For once, I didn't over buy. I was afraid the glitter glue wouldn't work, so I only got two bottles. However, once I figure it all out, I will definitely be getting more :) Thanks for your comment and congrats on winning something the other day. I saw on another blog where you won!!! Pretty cool!!!
