Currently and New Writing Packet

Do you ever have that "Aw! Man!" moment?  Well, I had mine around ten minutes ago when I realized that once again I forgot about Farley's Currently.  I remembered it Thursday - Saturday, but forgot to watch for it yesterday.  Oops!

I'm guessing though it's better late than never, so here is my Currently.  Remember if you link up to follow Farley's rules and leave feedback for two people before you and one after you.

Listening
You guys know my television history more than anyone.  I love creating, but creating means there isn't much time for television.  So, instead I lean on NetFlix.  It never fails that my cell phone is on silent, my iPad is running a show on Netflix, and I am working away on my laptop.

Loving
Today is Labor Day, so I got to sleep a little extra.  I typically wake up early even on off days, but my kiddos decided to share some sort of sickness with me, so I have crashed this weekend.

Thinking
If you are a teacher, you know this feeling.  It's that one item that stays on your mind until you can check it off.  I have two of those items on my mind right now.  First, I have two pocket charts that I need to dye tonight and get in the mail tomorrow and I have my next morning work packet to complete.  I've started working on it, but I swear that there is never enough time in a day to get it finished.

Wanting
So, my hubby bought a chocolate pie the other night and I know that there are still several pieces in the refrigerator.  A Coke and a piece of pie just sound great.  Now if God would just give me an extremely high metabolism, my world would be perfect!

Needing
I mentioned it a little bit in my loving section, but I've been sick all weekend.  Yes, I am taking vitamins, allergy medicine, and everything else I'm supposed to take.  I am feeling MUCH better today, but could definitely use a little more sleep before I hit the ground running again?  Nap?  Well, I took one, should I take another?  We'll see.

1, 2, 3
Alright, Farley came up with the idea that we should list three things that would be taking care of ourselves instead of everyone and everything around us.  I chose gym since I have a card and yeah, it just hangs on my key chain.

Then, I picked cooking because seriously friends, I love eating out, but I feel better when I make my own lunch and take time to make something a little more healthy than pizza.  I do still stand by the fact that pizza does have all the food groups though (wink, wink).

Last, I chose read a book.  Nicholas Sparks has a new book coming out any day and I rarely slow down to read anymore.  It looks good, so I thought I would add that.  Plus, I can read while I workout, right?

Alright, now I have one more thing.  I just completed a new packet.  I know it isn't a typical pet writing packet, but I wanted to do something fun.  Last week, I did a lot of things with bears and rabbits in my classroom.  I didn't really do anything with a moose, but I saw the moose clip art and I thought, "Now, that is fun!"

We started this lesson by graphing what we would write about.  This also helped me out because I was able to run off what each student specifically wanted.  Most of my kiddos ended up picking the rabbit.

After we did the graphing, we did the graphic organizer as a class.  We walked through it, asked questions, and practiced changing those sentences into telling sentences.  The next day we wrote rough drafts, went over them on an individual basis, and then wrote final drafts and put together the crafts the following day.

Below are pictures of many of the pages included in this packet.  I didn't include all of writing pages or all of the craft pages, but I included several of them so that you can get an idea of how the pages will look.  If you like it, click on any of the pictures and it will take you to the packet on my Teachers Pay Teachers page.

Off to eat chocolate pie and get started on my packet.
